The series "bodyscapes" contains of figure studies inspired by Andrea Mantegna and other painters of the Renaissance who dealt with the problem of perspective representation of the human body. The photograph provides an image of a foreshortened body, which again gets transformed into the third dimension. By cutting and layering a bas-relief is constructed into each work, a new space inside the space illusion of photography. This new spatial interpretation of the body reacts directly to the foreshortening provided by the photograph.
